Every year The Magic Zoo exhibits at the North American
Veterinary Conference, where veterinarians, veterinary technicians and other
vet related people gather every January in Orlando
for continuing education.
I enjoy this conference very much, and see a lot of old
friends who’ve been my customers for many years.
This year the ASPCA had a couple large booths, and a lot of
their folks from New York were on
hand to talk to the participants.
Since I recently designed some jewelry for the ASPCA, I
thought it would be great to actually meet Mr. Ed Sayres, (I hoped he’d make an
appearance.)
Later on I tracked him down and asked if he would mind
coming to my booth for a photograph, and he graciously consented. He told me
that his morning had been spent with a
presentation of a mock court battle going over the Michael Vick trial, and that
it was well attended by convention goers.
I only met him briefly, but I liked him very much. He seemed
a kind and intense man, someone who wouldn’t back off from any fight to protect
animals. Just the sort of person you’d expect to be president of the ASPCA.
