My daughter-in-law and I have been discussing getting chickens of our own for fresh eggs. So, being an animal jewelry artist, I got inspired and designed these instead! What do you think of them?
Rhode Island Red
This little girl is supposed to be a great laying hen, producing up to 300 eggs in a year! These hens are supposed to be friendly, easy-going gals. And because I have special affinity for the state of Rhode Island, I really wanted to include this design. I also love the colors in this pretty bird!
Australorp
This pretty black hen with the funny name is another good layer, also approaching the 300 eggs a year mark. These chickens like to roam, so you need to have lots of space to let them run free. I love the color combination of black and red, too. So classy!
Leghorn
There’s nothing like a pretty white and red chicken! I always liked this breed, so of course I had to include it in my new flock. These are smart birds. And they like to fly! I find that kind of cool. Especially since they like to roost in trees. And these are also good layers, producing up to 320 eggs a year!
I would love to hear from some of you that raise chickens. Are they noisy? Do they produce eggs for your family? There’s nothing like getting some actual facts from actual people who keep chickens. You might inspire me to raise some real ones!
