In the year 2009, a young dog(Milan), was found on the side of the road, having been gunshot. She was rescued and taken to the Hilton Head Humane Association, in South Carolina. While she enjoys a happy life with lots of friends in the human and canine departments, the hope is that she will find her own “forever home”. It has been a little difficult for her to find owners because she takes some time to warm up to strangers, but the wait is worth it. Hopefully someone will take the time soon.
Key Takeaways:
- Milan loves the shelter staff and they love her – she has been there since 2009
- While a bit standoffish, after she warms up to strangers she is comfortable
- The staff hopes one day their happiest moment will be achieved, when Milan goes to her forever home
“Milan has been at the shelter for so long that she probably does not know that it is not a home”

Where is the shelter located? How much for adoption? Why do you think she has not been adopted? As long as she is not on expensive medication I would be very interested. I have 2 german shepherds.
What’s her adoption fee?

Hi Dena,
One of my staff writers wrote this article, but you can try this link and perhaps there is some more information there. You sound like a wonderful person! https://www.thedodo.com/close-to-home/dog-milan-needs-home-south-carolina
