Holland, a neglected poodle in very poor condition, was dropped off at an animal shelter in late September. The young dog was entirely covered in mats and dirt was embedded into her long hair. With the support of Chicago’s Trio Animal Foundation, Holland has a fresh new look. After many failed attempts at cleaning Holland up, she underwent a thorough grooming session while under sedation. Fortunately, Holland was otherwise healthy. With some help from a therapy dog named Miller, Holland learned how to play happily and was adopted on November 8th.
Key Takeaways:
- In September, Holland the dog was abandoned in a shelter in bad condition, with dirty, overgrown fur and irritated skin.
- The Trio Animal Foundation of Chicago took her in for an elaborate grooming under sedation and supervision by a vet.
- Holland was restored to good physical and emotional health, was subsequently adopted in November, and is doing well in her new home.
“Sometimes, all it takes to start feeling better again is a brand-new haircut. Luckily, Holland the poodle-Maltese mix also got a new family in the process — and she can’t stop smiling about it.”
