I have a brother who is an extremely talented artist. For many years he lived in New York City, where he worked on sets for both The Metropolitan Opera and Broadway shows, including The Lion King and many others.
He has done quite a few paintings of animals, some of which can be seen on his website, www.huttonart.com
Alex is also an exceptional portrait artist, his paintings and pastels a study in creative interpretation of his subject matter. I love paintings that are not a “copy” of reality, but say something about the artist and his vision. Alex is a master of this.
One of my favorites is a couple of tabby cats stretched out on a red rug. They are a vision in feline laziness. Another one I especially like is a pair of men sitting at home with their beloved Maltese dogs held in their arms-a moment of love and comfort frozen in time. Wonderful stuff!
If you’ve been thinking about a portrait of your pet, perhaps with yourself included in the composition, contact Alex via his website. However, be sure you tell him his sister Merry sent you there!
