I’ve been really enjoying my back yard these past several
weeks. The butterflies are back!
I have admired butterflies my whole life, and it’s only been
recently that I’ve taken up creating a butterfly of my own. Well, that’s
not entirely true because years ago I made a very detailed monarch in polymer
clay that nearly drove me crazy with all the miniscule white spots. It was a
short lived line of jewelry, much like the insect itself.
We have a big variety in my part of Florida.
From the big yellow insects that waver from bush to bush in pairs, to the
exotically black and white striped butterflies that just show up once in a
while and give me a jolt of wonder.
Most of the butterflies I see outside my studio are orange with
black and white markings. They could be in the monarch family, but I can’t
place them for sure.
