Although visions of many new designs have been dancing in my head (like spring sugar plums) I have actually managed to complete 3 new designs already.
A Most Magical Bird

Remember back last year when I asked if you thought I should make a line of fanciful and extinct animals? Well…the second of this new series has appeared! (The first was a dragon that I created last year)
I had quite a time working on this particular design. I wanted to get those feathers just right, give her an expression that was just a wee bit cheeky, and make sure she balanced gracefully. And oh yes, I wanted her to look immortal. Which, according to legend, she pretty much is. Yes, she is the magical Phoenix bird!
So, what do you think?
Plus…A New Pup!

I’ve also made a new dog breed. One that is sometimes featured in a photograph on my website banner, mostly in the hotter weather. And that would be the handsome African Lion Hound, most commonly known as the Rhodesian Ridgeback.
I decided to pose this fellow with his back facing outwards, so the iconic ridge was very noticeable. The Ridgie is available as a charm (Both European-style and spring ring), a pair of earrings and a pendant. And this design can be in sterling silver or 14K gold.
And A Monkey for Friends

Then there is the Friendship Monkey. This is one I did as a special favor for one of my customers, who wanted to give his best buddy a matching, but not quite matching pendant. Notice that the tails twine together, when they are together.
But of course, they are worn separately, around each friend’s neck. Kind of a fun idea for good friends, a loving couple, or maybe even a mother and daughter pair.
Can You Lend me a Hand?
I’m still working on new ideas, so if there is something you would personally like to see me create, let me know! The only thing is, it must be an animal of some kind. Even if it’s one that no long exists on our Earth, or maybe never did.
Or choose one of these, and let me know which you’d like to see in a future design:
- Dodo Bird
- Dinosaur (which one?)
- Unicorn
- Sphinx
- Mermaid (More of a humanoid than an animal)
- Mammoth
- Phoenix earrings to match the pendant
I can’t guarantee I’ll get to all of these, (the dodo is one I have my current sights set on) but I will do my best. And if you have additional ideas, let me know!
Enjoy this beautiful spring weather!

platypus
Hello Merry!
There are so many…
Birds are super wonderful creatures to look at
(I am an amateur birder/photographer)
Hawks, falcons— the Kestrel or merlin might be fun to create,
The woodpeckers!! Pileated, the Sapsuckers, the Flicker
The flycatchers! Scissor tail, all the different swallow, purple Martins
These bird suggestions may have too much color detail for your medium so I apologize for that… I have just been imagining certain birds created in your style of art
Susan
Susan, Great ideas! I do love making birds, and I love the hawks, falcons and all of them, really. We have beautiful woodpeckers around here – flickers. So colorful! I will think about it for sure. – Merry
I like the idea of a unicorn, my granddaughter’s favorite!
I think I will work on that soon!~ Thanks for the reminder, Karen!

A sitting Golden Retriever like the Rhodesian Ridgeback would be very nice.
Hi Anja, You are right! I will give that some consideration for sure. – Merry
