A dog named Elsie was found by Hopkins Belize Humane Society chained to a plastic chair under a stilt house in Belize. They found her during a roundup, where they pick up animals who need vaccination or urgent medical care. Elsie also had two sores on her back legs, and her toes and feet were infected and swollen. The poor girl was also seriously emaciated. Scared on the ride to the clinic, the volunteers gave her a shower and she started finally wagging her tail. After being treated for a month, she was taken to her new home in Ambergris Caye. Now, she goes for walks on the beach, sit and smell the ocean, and spends time with her new family.
Key Takeaways:
- Elsie was found three ago during a roundup for urgent medical care because she was chained beneath a house
- Elsie was also treated for bleeding sores, swollen toes, and missing nails
- After a year and a half she is with a great family and went from 27 pounds to 56.4 pounds
“Elsie was also missing patches of fur, but the most serious issue was her weight — she was completely emaciated, weighing only 27 pounds.”
