It’s late spring, and I think maybe we’re all done with snow. Finally!
New Mexico mountain life is always full of romps with the animals, but Minnie the Husky-mix can’t seem to get enough of our early morning walks. She is also a real digger, with lots of eager stops along the road. Sometimes a few too many. But she’s a pretty cute girl, so we let her have her way when it comes to sniffing things out and throwing dirt around, at least when it’s not in our backyard!
Also…we have lots of things growing in our various gardens now! Diana, my daughter-in-law, has all sorts of goodies well on their way to producing food for our table. Who says you can’t grow food at 7,500 feet, in ground that’s mostly clay? It just takes a little compost, horse manure and there you go! Here she is, picking some delicious spinach for lunch today…
There’s so much in bloom now. We’ve had a lot of soaking rainstorms, and our yuccas are blooming like crazy! We’ve been lucky this year; the deer have left us some of these spectacular blossoms for a change. Some years the wildlife just nip them all off below the buds.
I’m not sure what I can attribute our luck to this year. But I’ll take it!
And our strawberry plants are definitely happy campers! Already blooming. I can taste those delicious little red berries already. And pea plants! There is nothing like a crunchy pea pod right out of the garden…
Before I end this blog post, I want to thank everyone who bought my book, An Uncommon Life, on Amazon lately…I’ve sold nearly 100 copies, and have 9 reviews as of today! If you didn’t get a chance to purchase one earlier, you can still find it there. And if you’ve read it but haven’t reviewed it yet, I hope you will do me that honor soon.
Have a spectacular late spring, and stay tuned for even more new designs coming soon!
