Not too long ago I started making lead-free pewter jewelry in a number of designs. I really wanted to have some inexpensive jewelry along with the gold and silver, and that was my reason to make it.
But I realize that pewter is beautiful in its own right! Interestingly enough, the cute little kitten earrings seem to be just as popular as some of my more expensive cat jewelry. Another kitty one that has earned some admiration is the little cat post earrings with the funny expression on her face. Fluffy cats always seem so adorable, and this one is no exception!
I appreciate cat lovers, and always try to have a lot of cat jewelry to tempt them with! I’m pretty sure it’s not possible to have too many cats or too many cat earrings to wear. So many of my customers collect cat jewelry, and I try like mad to keep up with them. I always try to accommodate what my “fans” are interested in, and it can be a challenge sometimes.
And what about those guinea pigs? Fluffy and sweet, they make wonderful pets and are a lot of fun to wear as a guinea pig necklace, too. From what I understand, guinea pigs are one of the best pets for children. I had a hamster as a child, but maybe my grand daughter will have a guinea pig someday- one that I can get to know personally.
One of my favorites of my newer designs is the penguin pin in pewter. I think this bird is universally loved for what to us, seems like clown like behavior, but to a penguin is just plain survival. I’m thinking about their tobogganing across the ice and waddling around in groups. Obviously the Creator had a sense of humor when designing this little character.
Another bird I can never get enough of is this one. The delicate hummingbird earring version I have here is so pretty, you’ll want to wear it with all your summer outfits. This jewel-like bird comes in so many colors and varieties- it’s nice to have something in a silvery metal to represent them all.
If you like small mammals, the bunch I have in the pewter lapel pin section are funny and fun to wear. See my fat lapel pin guinea pig, very rat-like rat pin, Easter lapel pin bunny and delicately posed lapel pin mouse. Put one on when you don’t feel like being serious, or to show off the interesting small mammal you may have as a pet yourself.
Of course I have a few dog breeds. The ever present Lab earrings is wonderful in a pair of detailed pewter dogs. I even have a post earring version of the Labrador breed. I may end up designing more dogs in this versatile metal as the years roll by. There are so many wonderful breeds to tempt my creativity!
I tried to design a broad spectrum of pewter jewelry. I love to have affordable earrings, pendants and pins, and this wonderful metal allows me to do offer them. Which makes me very happy, of course.
