Being an animal artist who creates animal art is a privilege!
My designs, of course, are handmade jewelry. But to me they are more like miniature sculptures. Animal art in any form is endearing to most people, especially when it represents the personality and feel of the pet or animal in question.
Capturing a Pet’s Personality in a Necklace or Pin
When my customers ask me to make them a pin, pair of earrings or a necklace that represents their pet, I take them very seriously. I know if I don’t capture the personality of their cat, dog, bird or reptile in the creation, that there will be something missing. So of course I focus on that, and on creating a design that is visually pleasing as well.
Putting on a custom piece of wearable art is a joyful thing…I love wearing my jewelry as much as my customers do! That’s why I make jewelry that I would wear myself, and DO wear myself.
Now, of course, most of my designs are done in sterling silver, gold, pewter and painted enamel. The painted designs capture the color of the animal, which is important sometimes! After all, a parrot or a butterfly is beautiful in silver or gold, but to bring out the best qualities of those animals, color can be a very important component.
One of a Kind Magic Zoo Designs
But…I still make custom, one of a kind designs in colorful polymer clay. It is a wonderfully organic process, hand crafted from start to finish. Can you find my fingerprints in the piece if you really look for them? Absolutely. Are the earrings absolutely a perfect match? Never. This is what makes them unique, and truly one of a kind.
Do you have a very special pet, that you would like to capture for all time? I can make you a piece that will be unique to you, and can be passed down to the next animal lover in your family. Yes, the clay jewelry is guaranteed for life. (Unless, of course, somebody gets a hold of it and chews it up! Like that favorite dog you are trying to represent… Yes, this does occasionally happen!) But other than that I do free repairs on the polymer clay jewelry in the event it needs a little freshening up. What would you like to see in a special dog or cat or bird or any kind of animal jewelry? I would love to make it for you!
