If only the ants would stay outside. Like this pair. I suppose I should be used to their yearly visit, usually in the middle of the rainy season, but it’s a bit upsetting every time.
A couple nights ago I got home from an event at my church around ten at night and was greeted by a line of little black soldiers pacing across my kitchen window sill, down the shiny white tiles and all the way in back of the drainer and onto my stove. I’m glad they don’t bite, but there is still something disturbing when hundreds (thousands?) of insects decide your kitchen is the place to be supply their nest with food from.
I’ve tried crumpled bay leaves as a deterrent, corn grits as a non-toxic ant killer (supposedly they take them to the nest, feed on the grits, the grits get moist in their little ant bellies and expand – I’ll leave the rest to your imagination.)
But it hasn’t worked. Any fool-proof non-toxic ant killers out there?
